Pac Man

Pretty much I wish I had thought this up and had done it myself - but I feel happy just knowing I know the creator/operator...check it out!

The mullet

Let me introduce the beginnings of bad hair days...

Luckily it didn't STAY that bad - we discovered a new type of "cute" - the mushroom top

But then again - I wasn't the only one with bad hair...

Blast from the past...

Just thought I would share a glimpse of little Elizabeth - mostly I am just taller...

I am still a grump sometimes - alas. Funny how Emily always seems to be in the pictures...(this is the beginning of King Benjamin maybe - haha, j/k your apologies have been accepted)

Emily Deardeuff's Belated Birthday Tribute

Emily Anne, A-N-N-E, Emily Anne and we are glad...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You have now been 31 for 1 day (I thought I would let that settle in) and so we would like to highlight a few of the years prior to this day...This is a compilation from Kristen, Kate and myself.

Hope you enjoy - becuase we enjoy you!

Kristen's:
1. I thought it was fun to go and talk to George and Big John (is that his name) at Ladue. They got such a kick out of Emily. (Elizabeth sidenote: I was always slightly jealous in gym...b/c I didn't have as cool of a nickname from George, but I felt cool by association.)
2. I remember Emily playing the piano and getting so good and I was envious of her talent. I think I was 6 and she was 8.
3. I thought it was so fun to watch Emily get asked on group dances at Alta. So creative and fun and she was so popular! (and so "mature...")
4. It was so ambitious and fun that Emily wanted to learn to play the banjo and she did.
5. I remember going with Emily to Bethany's house to her voice lesson with Barbie. I am always impressed with her singing talents.
6. The mugga mugga towel. No collection is complete without mention of the said towel.
7. I remember lying in bed in her bedroom in Old Salem road listening to "Every day, it's a getting faster, going faster than a rollercoaster" on the tape deck.
8. We had fun times using the large mirror walking around the house on the ceiling.
9. I thought it was so fun to surprise her when she was in Charlottesville and I put the carrot cake on her door and wheeled out on the rolly chair.
10. I remember sitting outside FAO Schwarz while she was in her interview. She got the job. Sa-weet! ...and one to grow on...
11. I thought it was so fun when Emily was dating Mike and she came home for Thanksgiving and Christmas and we would get updates down in the dungeon bedroom. "Soooo... I think I am going to marry him!"

Kate's:
12. When we lived in Sandy, Emily and probably Kristen had a group date at our house and they made cars out of card board boxes and I remember thinking they were so cool, and I remembered wanting to grow up so I could play fun games like that!
13. One summer Emily was home from school, and she helped me throw a birthday party. We went to party city and got supplies and at the checkout there was a CD of patriotic songs and red white and blue sucker, and she insisted on buying both of them! I don't think we ever listened to it other than driving home from the store that day...
14. We came and visited Emily in Virginia for Spring Break one year, and our car was packed so we all had to squeeze in whenever we drove places- and squeezing in cars in an automatic recipe for good times!
15. I don't remember when it was, but I just remember sitting with Emily on the couch one night and we just started talking with different accents and we were really hyper, so we thought it was hilarious and probably laughed harder than we should have....
16. I remember being little and being scared to go to college because I would never get to talk to Mom because Emily never called...I understand why now :)
17. When I was in Elementary school, when Emily worked at FAO Schwartz, I used to LOVE visiting her because she would show us really cool toys and let us play with this green slime stuff that I always wanted to buy, but Mom refused....
18. I loved when Emily played the flute when I was younger, so when we got a chance to pick what instrument to play, I wanted to be just like her and play the flute, so I did! And one year for Christmas we played a duet and I felt really cool being able to play with her, even though I wasn't nearly as good!
19. I pretty much talk to Emily everyday walking to or from school, and so technically it's not a memory, but it's something I'm sure I'll look back fondly on in the future!9. One time at Conway, Emily and Greg came to lunch with me, and at recess we played kickball, and Emily and Greg got to be on my team since they were my brother and sister. We pretty much dominated because they could both kick it out of the playground, no sweat. I pretty much felt like the coolest thing ever having such awesome older siblings!
20. I think one of my favorite memories of Emily was from the summer she came home and we slept in the same bed. One night we were talking about her scar and we were just joking around saying whenever someone asks her what happened she should punch them in the face and say "I don't know, what happened to yours??" We laughed REALLY hard for a REALLY long time...it still makes me laugh actually...:)I LOVE EMILY A WHOLE HEAP OF A BUNCH!! :)
21. One summer we drove out to Utah and then drove home with Emily and her roommate. I had a BLAST with them and I felt super cool, and I vividly remembering scaring her roommate when she came out of the bathroom in the basement...my bad! :) I always wanted to be cool and bring my roommates home like Emily did....
22. I remembering Emily and Kristen sitting me down on a stool in the bathroom in Sandy and telling me about the rats in my hair that were going to build hotels and cities if I didn't let them brush my hair. I was rather traumatized and I let them brush it....

Elizabeth's - (if you will notice the picture...this sums a lot up (look at #31) I am in the background...trying to get attention...alas.)

23. One memory is not so much of Emily, but of her room in the Old Salem Road house. She had quite the set-up! Her pink phone, white tiger, her MANY awards, and her troll collection - haha.
24. I remember loving being the person who got to bring emily her medicine (?) that she hooked up to her central line - I enjoyed watching the process - and she even had her own fridge for it all.
25. One time I got to go stay with Emily at college (it was before I went to BYUI) and her other roommate was gone - so it was just the two of us. We ate at Cafe' Rio which at the time I DID NOT like - and that was sad to Emily, but I sure got a full does of it all night ;) hahaha...
26. Emily singing and dancing about is a constant, and in lots of my memories
27. I love it when Greg and Emily start impersonating a black preacher/audience. Those are always good revival experiences - CAN I GET AN AMEN!
28. we always say "Hi my different Sister" b/c we are so different
29.One time I called Emily and told her about how I hate that people can't remember my name, so she told me to just say may name after everything.
30. I use to call Emily and Mike all the time for dating advice - I remember walking across the quad at BYUI and talking about boys...those were the days...
31. I pretty much have wanted to be like Emily - I wanted to do swim team b/c of her, I wanted to go to Ricks College (BYU-I), I wanted to go to BYU- Nauvoo...so I did. The unfortunate part was that my experiences didn't always match up to the excitement of hers b/c we are not the same (#28) - oh well - still LOVED them all!

The list could go on - but since you are only 31 - we will hold off on more!
I hope you know we sure do LOVE YOU!
Love, "your different sisters"

Here is to 31 memories, 31 flavors, and 31 years of YOU!

WE LOVE YOU!!

"Have a good one!"

As my co-worker left the bathroom she called "Have a good one." It struck me - what a funny saying...

What 'one' am I having a good one of? A good experience on the toilet, a good hour, a good afternoon, a good day (which she had already told me earlier this morning), a good night? It could mean so much. That statement is the Universal - have a good (fill in the blank).

3 wishes

I love to cook.

I mean I really do (it is a wonder some guy doesn't want to tap into this...)

I love the whole process - looking through recipes to find the perfect match. I love to tie my green apron on and put my towel on my stings (for easy access). I love to plan the timing of when to cook what. I love to snack as I go. I love to clean as I go. I love to have the completed food (and enjoy sharing it) and then I love doing dishes. I love having a clean kitchen afterwards and a full stomach - with LEFTOVERS!

I am such a nerd - I look up recipes on-line as much as possible...

My current favorite site is: mykitchencafe.blogspot.com

I think I saw it on someone's blog - but really - it ROCKS my socks!! I have made a few things from it, and they were A-MAZE-ING!

I think I am probably one of the few people who spend their lunch hours at work looking up fun things to make.

I have 3 wishes:
I wish I had unlimited funds to make everything I wanted.
I wish I didn't have a job so I could spend time making all of these great dishes!
I wish that you didn't gain weight from eating.

P.S. I feel it very important to also add that my other all time favorite website is thepioneerwoman.com (thanks Emily) b/c it is awesome. If you want some SA-WEET pie crust/pie recipes - that is the place!! I love the pictures, everything!!

anyway...

Bruised, but without gall

I had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago...

1st - I am AMAZED at how many people don't have their gallbladder anymore - who knew you didn't need it. It doesn't come up in daily conversation...but if you ask you will soon find out most people know someone who doesn't have one.

2nd - I am not sure what they do to you while you are out - but I have a lovely souvenir...it has been 2 weeks and it is still going strong. I have taken polls on what it looks like. Obviously the first response is - it looks like a "Y", but I have also heard it looks like Pharroh's beard, a martini glass, a T-bone steak, a sling shot, a face of a bull, and a tuning fork. All good options - anyone else have any ideas?
It has faded - it use to be bigger - all the way up my arm...

The bitter-sweet hour

I love lunch. I love eating my lunch. I love not having to work for an hour. I love to reach my scriptures, check blogs, go outside, read e-mails, sleep - whatever it may be. I love it.

It is also the saddest hour of the day. The moment it begins, it is almost over. I am so sad when my lunch is gone...that last bite of cheese, or last spoonful of yogurt and granola/fruit. Alas...
Why can't we have a mini lunch break at the end of every hour. That would be great. One bite now, one bite later, one bite now, one bite later...then you could eat all day and relish the moment over and over...

10 more minutes....

just off the top of my head...

I have had this blog set up for over a year, but never felt like I had anything to say or share. As I have been reading other peoples blogs I have decided that mostly this is a good place to share the weird things you think or say or do...just for the entertainment of others. Some times during my lunch break I sit and read people's blogs - wishing they would post something new b/c I am bored. I suppose I should get a life...

Well I am just going to share things that are on my mind.

For example I am in LOVE with Dannon Light and Fit Vanilla yogurt - I would recommend it to ANYONE. It is delicious...I look forward to lunch everyday when I bust out my yogurt - I add granola and/or fruit. It is the higlight of my work day. Sad, but true.

Yesterday I started a list of things I want to do someday, you know the typical things...go to Europe, See the Grand Canyon, go white water rafting...and then the not so normal - milking a cow - I really want to milk a cow. I told someone that once and so they let me milk their horse...not the same really...
